Holiday Letter 2001
24 December 2001
Dear Family and Friends,
Happy Holidays!
Our year began in New Orleans for a party at Carl’s. What a wonderful time with family and friends; it truly set the theme for the year!
In April we spent a weekend with Carter, Julie, Curtis, Nathan, Jay, Jennifer, and Heidi at the Crow farm in Texas: Carter and Julie got engaged! We then headed to Italy for a late honeymoon - an incredible 12 days visiting Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, Florence, Bologna, Cinque Terre, and Pisa.
Speaking of weddings, 2001 was a busy year for our friends. We were honored to be at the weddings of the Morans, Gardners, Freedmans, Grossenbachs, and Crows.
Professional conferences this year took Jennifer to both New Orleans (again, with George tagging along) and to Washington D.C. When not traveling, Jennifer has been busy at Tucson Medical Center, and is keeping even busier with volunteer work. She worked on the Tee Up for Tots golf tournament again this year, and is now involved with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (the race to benefit breast cancer research). She is also still very involved with Junior League of Tucson and is currently chairing the Special Events committee. They have done a number of different events already, and are working on a big golf tournament for March 2002.
In June, George sold out his half of FMG to Matt and has been "self-unemployed" since; he hasn’t been idle, though. While continuing some fund raising and computer consulting, he completed certifications in Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and earned his real estate license as well. He is now working for cousins Steve and Shirley Canatsey at Santana Realtors. He is still teaching scuba and managed to take a week in Belize with Aaron in August to dive and to work on his book. He is speaking more than ever with the Making it Count programs, and has traveled all over Arizona and even to Idaho this year to speak at high schools. Finally, he is in the final test stages with software he’s created and will be marketing in 2002. If this hasn’t bored you to tears already, check out www.GeorgeJenson.com for details.
In addition to lots of business travel, George took two trips to Ohio for speaker training and certification. Jennifer managed to get to Pennsylvania for some R & R with Trish. Together we went to Memphis for Kappa Sigma’s Conclave, and in the beginning of December we and Aaron spent a crazed 48 hours in Las Vegas. Our favorite in-flight reading has been Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates by Tom Robbins for George and Bee Season by Myla Goldberg for Jennifer. We loved Harry Potter on opening night with Andrew and Bernadette, and just saw Lord of the Rings this week - excellent movie.
We drove to Palm Springs for another massive family Thanksgiving and had a fantastic time, and we’ll spend Christmas in Sedona. We’ll take George’s "new-to-us" 4Runner as his old one recently died. George did end up with a partner for the plane this year and has enjoyed much great flying.
With our busy lives, we’re pretty sure a lot of you are saying "just you wait until you have kids." Honestly, we’re working on it!
Love,
Jennifer and George
